Left untreated, your deck can become an expensive eyesore and a source of frustration. But it's back-breaking, time-consuming work to protect a new deck, and even more difficult to restore a dirty old deck. So leave the work to LaPorte Painting.

Your wood deck is exposed to the destructive elements of nature 24 hours a day. Rain, melting snow, and dew are all absorbed by the wood, causing it to swell and expand. This moisture is the perfect breeding ground for mildew, algae, and fungi. The sun's harmful UV rays cause rapid evaporation of this moisture, which makes the wood contract and dry out. This constant cycle of wet/dry, expansion/contraction causes the wood to warp, crack, split, and turn that unsightly gray color. The forces of nature can't be controlled, but LaPorte Painting can help minimize the harmful effects they have on your deck and restore its natural beauty.

Our restoration process includes these important steps:

1) Evaluation:

We provide a free evaluation of your wood deck to determine its restorable condition. In some cases the wood has deteriorated too badly to be restored. If it is restorable, we provide a written bid explaining all the work to be done.

2) Cleaning:

We start by removing any old stain or sealer with a stripper. If the deck doesn't have a sealer on it, we begin by applying a cleaning solution that kills, loosens, and lifts the algae and dirt that is damaging and marring your deck. The deck or fence is then power washed using low pressure. A wood brightener is then applied to bring back the wood's natural beautiful appearance.

3) Treatment and Preservation:

After cleaning your deck, we wait for the wood to dry to a moisture content of less than 12%. We then apply a penetrating preservative that protects the wood from the sun's UV rays, repels water, and also resists algae.
